Tom's shows in the UK have always been 2 hours but I think that is because he plays arena's here and it's a bigger show. I did see shows in the USA in the 90's that were in theatres that were 2 hours but that was then they included an interval.
I may be wrong here about the shows in Chile, but I think the show Tom did in 2007 was a festival in a large arena which had different artists every night and I think I read Tom will be doing something like that again this weekend to close the festival, and all the tickets are free. The theatre he played on 6th February and will play again on 12th February is just a small place.
Surprisingly on BBC news the other evening they said that the London West End stage had a record year in 2009 even better than 2008,and that has already been reported in many newspapers here.

NancyJo, Carl: I believe the origin of the 90-minute show here in the USA comes from the casino rules, as Tom plays so often in casinos here. Even when there's an opening act, he will play 90 minutes. Guess that it's easier to do it often. At any rate, this is what I choose to believe, as I couldn't imagine that it is a dissing of US fans. And (welcome to TJI, Carl!) shows everywhere are not selling out. I've said it frequently over the last year and it's still true. Even the hardest tickets in Las Vegas, New York, LA, London....seemingly everywhere....are easy to get these days. Money is tight. However, although I cannot say for sure, I highly doubt that Tom drew 1,000 people in a venue that fits 20,000. Perhaps, as if true at festivals, it was a smaller stage. I guess we'll see when he goes back there Friday. It seems logical that if he didn't sell they wouldn't ask him back.

I agree nancyjo, the quote from the article says that it was just OVER 2 hours!! He must have added extra songs.

My Question to TJI is: Why was Tom's audience attendance considerably less this time? 20,000 to 1,000? Is Tom losing his appeal in Chile? He was only there 3 years ago! Was it a different venue with less capacity?

I'm from Australia and his Melbourne shows haven't completely sold out yet either ??

Congratulations, Sir Tom. And a question for the Moderator and other fans ... I have noticed that often the not-in-US shows are listed as 2 hours. I've seen Tom in around 6 different venues in US and have been around 90 min. give or take. Why the difference? Anyone catch a 2 hour show in the US or Canada? What a treat that would be!
