Playing Catch-Up: Video From The Night A Fan — Uninvited — Climbed Onstage With Tom

Tour Date Note: AOL has dates incorrectly listed for Tom at Casino Rama in 2010 and at the Beacon in 2011(!). These are wrong. If you follow the ticket link on their music site, canceled concerts come up. So, we just have to wait and see….but don’t believe what you’re reading on AOL.

in 2008, when Tom played at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, Vince wrote a review for TJI.

In it, he spoke of the two women who got onstage with Tom during Resurrection Shuffle (photo of one here) and of Tom’s reaction.

At some point, someone — I apologize because I cannot remember who did so — sent video of the incident. I came across it in my annual “check everywhere on the computer for photos for the calendar” computer cleaning binge.

Anyway, I am fairly sure I never posted the video, so I just did.

You can watch the it in the TJI.com Video Library.

Great video!! I can’t believe that, not one, but TWO, women managed to not only get onstage, but were able to get so close to Tom before Security intervened. I’ve never seen Tom perform at the Taj, but I did see him numerous times back when he used to play Resorts in Atlantic City, and security was always very strict about not letting fans get too close to the stage. Apparently not so much the case at the Taj?!? LOL!! Loved Tom’s reacion…ever the professional, he took it all in his stride! Did anyone catch what he said to the second woman? I couldn’t make it out….

Hi Ellen! I haven’t clicked on the video (yet!), but I’m pretty certain that I sent some from that show. I called that one “Wild Women”. We had 1st row seats that night and got a good look at all of the shenanigans. We were standing next to the stage during the encore. It was very apparent that Tom was really enjoying himself. You can hear him laugh a bit as he continued singing and walked to our side of the stage after the 2nd one was escorted off. My favorite part is when the first ladies legs flew in the air when security picked her up! I think I told you that the crowd was out of control that night. The stage was very high; I’m not sure how they got up there with all of that security (and there were LOTS of them). God, that makes me wish Tom were back in the US performing again!

Yes, it was me who sent the video, Ellen.

LOL :) I remember reading take review and seeing somewhat of a video. How did they get up there LOL

The stage at the Taj is taller than most, but the fans there are more determined than most. One way up that I’ve seen is for someone to lift them, another is to push a chair up to the stage and use it as a step.

My guess, and of course it’s just a guess because I wasn’t there, is they walked around behind the barrier and up the steps on stage right. Neither girl was dressed for climbing the front of the stage quickly (but it would be more entertaining).

Stage right at the Taj was rarely occupied at the end of the show when I was there. By the encore, ushers realize the fans don’t care about their attempts to keep everyone seated, and security moves stage left and backstage to keep an eye on things as Tom exits, and then returns for the encore. Tom made a comment about the fire marshal as the video started, indicating the fans had already left their seats. That makes it easy for someone to get behind the barrier stage right without being noticed. Did I say that out loud? lol

At least a couple fans figured it out every time we played there, so I doubt I’m saying anything too secret for print.

I sat next to her at another concert at the Taj Mahal…..i got to know her a bit. She is a nice young woman. I recognized her from her YouTube video of her dancing on stage. Imagine my surprise when I ended up sitting next to her at a TJ concert.
