Fan Fare, What's New, Pussycat?
Here’s where you’ll find TJ photos and stories that don’t fit into any other categories. It is, as its name says, just for fans — and, hopefully, for fun.
Here’s Tom’s Interview With Cerys Right After His Performance & More Not-So-Great Video (Hey! When That’s All You Have…)
Sunday, June 28th, 2009Be sure to scroll down this page for more about Tom at Glastonbury and to come back to see if more is posted. (I’m not being coy. I am really not sure what we’ll have.)
Now, here’s Tom’s radio interview with Cerys Matthews. And, here in Part 2 Tom sings Kiss.
Listen to the crowed when he sings, “I know how to undress me” and when he dances. Amazing!
We’ll be getting video of his performance sometime in the next several days (I hope). As soon as it’s hear, it’ll be posted. Meanwhile, we’ll have to make do with stuff from youtube, like Tom dancing-glastothis one of Tom dancing. The sound is almost non-existent (again shot from the TV screen), but you can see he’s (1) working hard and (2) wearing….jeans!
There may be a video link posted on his official site, but the plan here is to post it in the TJI.com video library so you can see it and download it, if you wish.
On his facebook page, Herman Matthews wrote: “This was truly a day to remember for me… Today June 28, 2009 at Glastonbury Festival. It was Unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
The Independent also has what-to-say about Glasto. In a long review of the whole event, the dyspeptic critic says, “Blur’s official reunion gig is the great event of this Glastonbury weekend. Sunday builds slowly to this crescendo, with the day’s traditional, jokily received old-timers. Status Quo, Sheffield crooner Tony Christie and the orange-skinned, now entirely irrelevant Tom Jones dominate.” Nice, huh?
Of course, TJI.com will continue to post artcles, links to articles and photos as they come in.
As always, thank you, mh.

I’ve been reading this site for a long time and, finally, had to write my first post to thank TJI/Ellen for all the work that went into this site today. Like you, I am outside the UK, so I couldn’t even look online to see Tom. That you did all this is abso-tively mind-boggling. You are amazing and I hope someone in Tom’s office or his management sees it and pays attention. All we’ll get from them is those links to content that you cannot watch outside of the UK or are only available for a brief while. So, thanks again!

Darlin’: I posted similar comments a few weeks ago, and am moved to repeat them again. I agree with your comments 100%, The best, most current, dedicated and professional TJ news feed and forum on the web is right here. Ellen and Ursula, thanks for all you do. A HUGE thank-you as well to all the contributors who take the time to share their concert experiences. All of you “field reporters” keep the TJ party going for me.

I thought Tom looked and sounded absolutely amazing at Glastonbury. He really seemed to be enjoying himself and put in 150% as always. Can’t wait to see him this year! As for the newspaper comments, the press is always going to have something to comment on negatively.

I watched Tom at Glastonbury,he seemed happy and relaxed, and sounded great, not to mention outsinging all the other acts. His voice is as strong as ever, and I can’t wait to see him ar Cardiff later this year.As for the newspapers, well they love to print rubbish as we all know to sell papers!

Far from being “irrelevant” or “jokily received” Tom Jones played a blazing set to a highly appreciative capacity crowd who obviously didn’t share this reviewer’s views. As for the tired comment about “orange skin” I suppose those who are lucky enough to spend a significant time living or working in warmer climes than ours in the UK will inevitably acquire a sun tan. The same could have been said for Bruce Springsteen but I notice it wasn’t.
Nick Hasted would benefit if in future he watched performances before making irrelevant comments on them.

I too am so pleased that we fans have TJI, and want to say a million thanks for all the hard work. Yesterday’s pics of Sir Tom are fabulous. I’m unable to see any of the performances posted so far and I’ve been on the Glastonbury Festival website, and so far no video of Sir Tom there. Patience is a virtue!

Thanks, as always, Ellen for the great post. I loved the interview and the audio of him singing Kiss. I almost wished it was a video but I think with just the audio, it made me LISTEN more (as I’m always distracted by the sight of Tom!). Wow, the sound of 100,000 people screaming for you…Unbelievable! And he’s still the most gracious gentleman. What a truly great gift from God! Can’t wait to see him in August…
