“Love Is On The Radio:” Tune In To Tom Jones & Air Play For The New Single In Europe
Thursday, January 29th, 2009
The title of Tom’s old country song is appropriate as, beginning tomorrow there will be several opportunities over the next several days to hear Tom Jones on the radio.
First up is World Cafe on NPR.
That show will be broadcast tomorrow, Friday January 30, at 2 pm EST.
To find your local station, check out the World Cafe website and scroll down to the bottom of the page where there is a station rundown.
Or, simply go to the WXPN website to listen to a live stream of the show.
Tom should be on during the first hour, 2 to 3 pm.
If you miss the show, you may be able to hear is again (“if permission is granted”) on the National Public Radio website.
Sir Tom will be in Europe for awhile in February and tomjones.com has announced some appearances in Europe:
Wednesday, Feb 4: BBC Radio 2 — Chris Evans, LIVE between 1800-1900
Thurs Feb 5: BBC Radio 5Live — Simon Mayo LIVE @ 1450
And, on TV, Friday Night With Jonathan Ross, BBC1 @ 2200 (date TBA)
Dre reports from the Netherlands that he’s heard Tom’s new single there, Take Me Back to the Party “every day on the radio.” That’s good news. Bad news? The song is available only on the “international” version of 24 Hours and as a single only in selected countries.

On Jonathan Ross? That should be interesting… ahem
I will rather be looking forward to hearing the show with Chris Evans, I love his show.
Oh by the way. Swiss German radios have also been playing Tom’s new songs. I heard “Give A Little Love” twice this week, I’m sure it’s been played daily this week! I can’t speak about other stations here, I mostly listen to that one or to web radios.

Dragonlady: I think Jonathan Ross is terrific and he should have known better. Russell Brand was all over TV here in the US late last year with nary a mention of Andrew Sachs and/or his daughter — probably because so few people watch Fawlty Towers these days. But Tom and Ross always go well together, so it should be fun.

That’s kind of what I meant. Ross can be very funny when he doesn’t go over the top. Evans usually ask very interesting questions. I am looking forward to hear what he’ll come up with.
