Tom Opens In Las Vegas: Ladies And Gentlemen, This IS Tom Jones (Au Naturel!)

Sorry for the brief post and the quality of the photos….but it was an exciting night and it’s late and I have to be at a meeting in the morning…BUT!!!

These are photos of Tom at the MGM Grand Thursday night. Notice anything?? (Except that at a higher res the original photos have better red tones?)

That’s right!

When three fans at Table 5A — the only long-time, diehard fans at the show who are “regulars” at the Hollywood Theatre — complimented Tom on his gray hair and beard he at first made light of it, saying he didn’t have time to dye it. Later he said from now on it’ll be “au natural.”

The consensus is that he looks terrific….as for the show, I beg your indulgence but you’ll have to wait until later….There will be a review, a set list, at least one funny thing and some new stuff…..And, too, look for the article from the newspaper that will be posted here.

  1. Gill Says:

Well! Well! I never thought I’d see the day when Tom had grey hair.It will be a lot easier for him, but will take me a while to get use to!

  2. Anna Says:

OMG!!! Thanks Ellen. Can count on you for the fastest and the latest news On TJ. I have to let it sink in I’m in shock but I’m looking and I’m liking. Can’t wait for the show review.

  3. Dragonlady Says:

Wow! I love it! I always prefer natural looks. Tom looked great before but now he’s perfect!

  4. Vince Says:

looks great- reminds me of 1990 or 91 when he went natural for a little while.

  5. gaillovestj Says:

I LIKE IT. AM SO GLAD HE DECIDED TO DO THAT – IT SUITS HIM

    LOOKING FORWARD TO THE REVIEW

  6. Lynn Swanson Says:

love it!!!!! Tom looks just great!!!!

  7. Oqi Says:

    Good Job Sir Tom Jones!

You Look GREAT and ofc SOUND!

    Olli,
    Finland

  8. Ginsings Says:

I LOVE it!! I’m glad he decided to go “au naturel.”

  9. Carol M. Says:

    I don’t know yet – it’s kind of a shock !

  10. Maureen Says:

I have seen Tom with grey hair a long time ago at Westbury and he had on a grey suit and I loved it..I LOVE TOM’S NEW LOOK HE LOOKS FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. Abbie Says:

I love the natural look – seen the grey before, but I’m not too sure about the haircut!

  12. linda parker Says:

WOW!!! I love it. I’d always wondered how he would look without the colour. I always told my husband I’d stop colouring my hair when Tom did and I guess if he can step out and do it I can too!

  13. Beverly Says:

I dont like the look – didnt he say he never wanted to be called grandpa jones????

  14. Marisa Says:

I’m in shock with Carol and Anna. My Mom’s been telling me for years that he’s too old to be a sex symbol because he’s my father’s age and that it’s time to switch my fantasies over to Hugh Jackman. Sadly, I’m thinking she might finally be right. Aging sucks, who wants to be reminded that we are all getting older? If he’s giving up on the high amount of effort it takes to maintain a more youthful appearance, maybe we should all put on our slippers and robes and call it a day. I don’t know. At least it’s inspiring that he still keeps up the activity schedule of a 21 year old and can out perform any young artist.

  15. Moderator Says:

Marisa, Beverly, Carol, All: Carol is right. It was more than “a bit of a shock” to see him at first as he’s been gray at the temples before, but not like this. But as Sir Tom always has said, “You can’t be a sexy person unless you have something sexy to offer. With me, it’s my voice: the way that I sing, the way I express myself when I sing.”

And that voice has not changed.

It’s also been said (though not by Tom Jones), “Judge not lest ye be judged.” Everyone’s entitled to an opinion, but pictures taken in that lighting aren’t always the best indicators of quality.

  16. Beverly Says:

Ok i can compromise – how about a salt and pepper van dyke? He is not an old man – i say give him until hes about 88 then we’ll talk old – but for not salt and pepper. I have to say i enjoy this web thanks Ellen

  17. Deb Says:

I have to say that I like the “new look!” I think salt and pepper hair is very sexy (Peter Lawford, my husband )…besides, sometimes the black dye was too dark so everyone knew it was fake and, in my opinion, detracted from his rugged, good looks! Yep…I like it!

  18. Renn Says:

It’s about time. He still looks very handsome and sexy. And really isn’t it absolutely ridiculous for him to still have that jet black hair at 68? Tom’s famous quote (which the moderator repeated above) about being sexy is true. Sexiness isn’t about hair color. It’s all about THE VOICE. Even if you can’t SEE him, the voice remains the same.

I hope Tom doesn’t bend to public pressure to conform and keeps his new look. Here’s to you, Tom, you sexy Welsh Wonder!

  19. Beverly Says:

I for one want more than to just listen to him – he doesnt have to have jet black hair like Wayne Newton – but mostly gray – its not for me. Too bad he still has a tremendous voice and great talent. I dont think this look will attract a younger crowd that so drives the cd’s on the charts.

  20. Kel W. Says:

I like the new look. I think he is as sexy as ever!!!!

  21. Anna Says:

I love the natural look and Tom will always be sexy. The man the voice the legend.

  22. Eunice Says:

I don’t like the “natural” look at all. I think gray hair adds years to anyone and Tom is no exception. To those who think natural equals looking good, I wonder how many women would go to a Tom Jones show, appearing as they do when they get out of bed in the morning. Please Tom, go back to the bottle. It doesn’t have to be jet black, as you can easily find a natural shade that has looked great in the past. I do like the new hairstyle. Thanks Ellen, for the wonderful job you do.

  23. SusannePDX Says:

OMG! OMG! OMG! Words can’t express my shock and I don’t know what to feel. Initally, I think I prefer the dye even though there are many sexy men with gray hair (Sean Connery, Cary Grant, etc). I’ll just have to wait and see him in person

  24. Oqi Says:

“Dont judge me either, but it makes me feel ALIVE!” -TJ

And ppl, there is still some old color, its even better when its all gray!

When i see some these comments, ofc i respect everyones opinions, but this is why Tom has problems to age like he wants, its hard to be a Sexsymbol.. I think Tom is more worried about his talent, gift, The Voice!

    He is The Greatest!

  25. Betti Says:

I hope it was just joke that it will be like that…I don’t know what to say,it’s really shocking

  26. Carol M. Says:

I’ve looked at the new Tom and looked some more and then looked at the “other” Tom, and in all fairness to him, for whatever reason he’s done this, I truly don’t think I like it. I will always go to his shows and love his voice and him, but, certainly, the other look that he projected had alot to do with the way he made ME feel. Sorry, Tom – let me come over and give you just alittle color?

  27. SusannePDX Says:

Don’t get me wrong…I still love the guy and he is still “hot” but the dark look kind of added to his naughty persona which we all love. ;-)

  28. Marian Says:

My goodness, this topic really brought a lot of response!!! I was rather shocked and am sorry to say it appears Tom has aged overnight because I was so used to more color. He could have kept a tad more color in the grey, and let him have that distinguised look…but I don’t want Tom to look OLD. He is still so good-looking in every way, and wonder why he decided so suddenly to just let it all go.

  29. Laura Says:

It’s a big surprise!!! For me, the jury is still out on this one. I would have to see it in person.

  30. Chyna Says:

Yes, it’s a change sure, but seems long overdue. The man is nearly 70. If it were anyone but Tom, we’d laugh and say it looked silly for a 68-year-old to keep coloring his hair. It just starts to look silly and like a bit of a caricature of a Vegas lounge singer (Wayne Newton comes to mind – no disrespect intended).

Maybe the “back to the bottle” reactions have more to do with some ladies accepting their own aging and letting go of their 1960-70′s young hot sexy “This is Tom Jones” fantasies.

Alas, those days, ladies, like our own “natural” hair colors and slim hips are long gone. Please let Tom age naturally and gracefully. Maybe it’s time some of us joined him.

  31. Mika Says:

Have to admit I’m in a shock, as there has always been so great photos of Tom when he’s been back performing from vacation. And even because the new cd has just come out I didn’t expect this. It sounds unbelievable if he wont dye it anymore at all. Could this be done for people to raise an eyebrow and make thatway more noise for the new album!? Just a wild quess. Personally I don’t have a problem if Tom has decided to go this way, I’m still behind him 100%. But I have always liked the way he looks and it is just so suddenly diminished now that I can’t almost believe it.

  32. Moderator Says:

Hello again: Your moderator here to say this response has me bemused and totally aghast. Really, again, photos in those lights do not do anyone justice and, again, everyone is entitled to an opinion.

Once more the question of boundaries must be asked — sure, we all have preferences, but Tom is still delivering the music. Kind of think no one will stop seeing his shows or stop being a fan because of his hair. Why, even Sinatra changed his rug from brown to gray at a certain point.

Please trust those of us who were there. He looked just fine. And the quite sagacious SusannePDX is right — Cary Grant, Sean Connery and, I must add, Richard Gere and George Clooney — gray can still be hot and sexy and relevant.

And, Marian, maybe he just got tired of trying to keep his hair dark. One would have to doubt, as Mika suggested, that he’d do this for publicity.

The most reasonable conclusion is that Tom Jones’ age is no secret and he’s dealing with it. His fans should, too.

  33. Fay Says:

OMG! HE’S SO FREAKIN’ HOT! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

He’s a silver fox now, so cool!!

  34. Beverly Says:

I have to say this – its fine for connery, grant, clooney and the like but the man we are talking about is TOM JONES – who to me forever is in a class all by himself.

  35. Fay Says:

A little quick out of the gate, I just read the negative comments. I think his looks is much more natural and softer. He really suits it. He is so handsome, my heart just did a flip when I first saw those pictures. Mmmmmmmmm…. Silver Fox. Bring it On!!!

  36. Abbie Says:

Moderator – I think you opened up this discussion as to his looks by your comment of “The consensus is that he looks terrific”. I realize that was the opinion of the gals at the show. And you are right, we all have differing opinions on whether or not he should keep using the “bottle”. But, in the end, it is Sir Tom who is the decider, right?

  37. Moderator Says:

Yes, Abbie, that’s exactly it. But, once more, don’t judge until you see him in person, on video or see lots more photos.

  38. Adam Says:

It’s a brilliant move on Tom’s part to stop using color in his hair. He looks far better and mature and wiser. I’m more interested though in the set list and reviews of last night’s show lol? Can’t wait!!!

  39. Moderator Says:

Adam: I understand you are anxious but it’s been a very busy — uncharacteristically so — week and the review will probably wait until tomorrow. But there is a complete set list included.

  40. Angelica Says:

WOW!!! Hot, hot, hot. He looks so much more handsome. I love it.

  41. TJMoves Says:

    WOW! is right!

    This one’s a winner, Ellen!
AND Tom looks handsome as ever!

  42. nancyj Says:

At LAST!!!!! Natural looking, sexy, silvery hair! I love it !—it rally softens his face. The dark dye job HAD to go. Can’t wait to see him tomorrow night! Thanks Ellen for the pics!

  43. Daggy Says:

I confess,I dont like it. I saw the pics and thought OMG, then I read all the comments and scrolled up to see the pics once more- maybe it could be helpful to see him in person but so far I DONT LIKE IT

  44. gaillovestj Says:

I HAVE BEEN INTERESTED IN THE COMMENTS HERE. WHILE IT IS A BIT OF A SHOCK THE MORE I SEE THE PICTURES I LIKE THE THE NEW “AU NATUREL” . IT IS THE VOICE I AM MOST INTERESTED IN AND NO MATTER WHAT TOM LOOKS LIKE . I HAVE OFTEN THOUGHT HE WOULD LOOK GOOD WITH GRAY HAIR AND I AM NOT ONE BIT DISAPPOINTED. I JUST HOPE THAT OUR CANADIAN DOLLAR IMPROVES AS I WOULD LIKE TO SEE HIM AGAIN IN PERSON.
I TRUST THOSE WHO HAVE SEEN HIM IN PERSON – LUCKY PEOPLE. THANKS AGAIN ELLEN FOR THOSE GREAT PICTURES

  45. GMAN Says:

I think he still looks cool as ever! A bit weird with the grey and the dark tan though… but he looks good!

  46. pat Lowndes Says:

I think tom looks great, hey even if he was bald he would look great. With that voice he will always be sexy. And ladies the voice is still the best voice on this planet or any other planet. And don’t get me started on that cheeky smile.

  47. Denise Lewis Says:

When I first saw the photos I was surprised and didn’t think I liked the new look. But I waited a while and when I looked again, I found I liked the new look. The hairstyle is great and I always thought the black was a little too dark. I just want to see him in person so I can make up my own mind. In fact I wouldn’t mind an up close and personal look. That man is just plain gorgeous–the hair color really doesn’t matter that much. At least not to me…………

  48. gieret Says:

Tom is just sexy~~period!! I don’t think he’s sexy just because of his voice. I think he is very good looking and in great shape; just like always. Everything about Tom is sexy and we’ll all get use to the gray hair just like we got use to the goatee {I think he looks good with it, too, but I like him better without it}. We cannot seal him up in a time warp and keep him 30 forever! At least he is still with us, healthy and with that great, huge voice and still able to perform & tour.

  49. Jared Says:

wow! I really like the look!!

  50. Marisa Says:

He’ll always be 30 to me.

  51. Claire Says:

I’m in my 20′s, and when my peers say to me “why do you fancy a man in his 60′s” I tell them that they have to see him live, in the flesh. I tell them that the man exudes sex appeal, that no one can fail to be entranced by the charisma that Tom Jones oozes from every pore. I’ve only seen it on DVD, but the same was true 20, 30 and 40 years ago. The only thing he’s lost is the hair dye! ToJo’s a silver fox, and I love it!

  52. TJFriend Says:

For me, I will never forget how handsome and dashing he was back then. Now, the inner beauty he always had still shines thru his silver hair which in a strange way brings out the inner glow I remember seeing in him many moons ago. He is still handsome and dashing after all of these years, he’s ageless, and beautiful. God bless him, especially his voice.

  53. Melodie Says:

When I saw the photo you posted from the Monitor magazine and
article, I noticed a softer look Tom had with the greying goatee
and closer cropped haircut. I really liked it. In fact, my wish
for Tom in the new year (January question of the month) was for
him to keep the greyer look–and yea, here it is!!! Can’t wait
to see him in person. His sexiness exudes from both the inside
and the outside. His voice and persona still make me crazy (kinda
like Rachael Ray–no just like Rachael Ray was on her show).

  54. sandy Says:

I think Tom looks great! Love the cross he always wears, too. This one looks like it might be family birthstones-a garnet for Linda, big pearl in the center for Tom, diamond for Mark, another, but smaller pearl for Alexander and the other stone for (can’t tell what it is for certain) but must be for granddaughter, Emma. Anyone else notice this?

  55. Deborah Says:

Charisma and his awesome voice! Thats what makes Tom Jones, not the color of his hair.

  56. uknowimfeelintom Says:

    Brilliant.

  57. Marisa Says:

When did he first go to Jet Black ? Brown seems to be his natural color, no?

  58. Fay Says:

I am content in the fact that I know Tom Jones has no sexpiration date ; )) He rocks it like no other and I can hardly wait for the day the rest of the world realizes it too. He is truly peerless, in so many ways.
I’m off to walk the dog, hopefully my 24 Hours on my iPod will keep my mind of the -22° temperature outside. I’m sure it will!

  59. Kathy Says:

Sir Tom looks great!! His voice has always been the one thing that I have been attracted to and his looks just added to the total package. Thanks for sharing the pictures.

  60. Beverly Says:

Sorry was at the show last nite – i dont like it – salt and pepper would be fine with the accent on pepper – you can employ a stylist to handle the tresses.

  61. Moderator Says:

Beverly: But, how was the show? Please review it following the post above because, in the end, that’s what’s important, isn’t it?

  62. Keith Says:

    Hi,

Looking at all the comments, it is really “chick battle” (and I say this lovingly ladies) as far as what they would like seeing when hearing that great voice….as a more practical comment, I would be concerned about a couple of things:

First, this just more ammo for those rags in Great Britain to talk about the pentioner trying to sell records….

Second, with a new CD out trying to attract both new and maintain the older fan base becomes increasingly difficult to sell this to 20-somethings….he is a legend but I do think he still should maintain an appearance that is both pleasing to both bases. Not sure how the record label will view this while trying to promote his music and get him the best PR possible….

On a personal note, I would prefer to see TJ on a level where he can just get on a stage with a dignified appearance and with his great showmanship leading the way. Would find it difficult to see a TJ show without seeing both of these packages together…just might be painful for me…sorry..but give him credit for trying something different….Okay Tom, experiment over…

  63. Moderator Says:

Chyna: As my comments have indicated, I clearly agree with you about Tom, but not about his fans.

  64. Pat Says:

Keith, I couldn’t agree with you more, I think your comments are spot on. I personally don’t like this new look and have to wonder what the UK press and his record company will make of it, especially as his new single ‘Give a Little Love’ is released in the UK on 9th February.Hopefully when we said he didn’t have the time to dye it that is the case, and he will be doing so again soon.

  65. Beverly Says:

Tom always gives great performances but with him it is more than singing he is the entire package audio and visual. If you lose the edge you lose the essence of Tom Jones. I cant relate to grandpa jones – there is no need for it.

  66. Beverly Says:

Sorry moderator no it is not all that matters – you are of one mind and i as 40 yr Tom Jones fan will have my say. His singing or talent was never in question.

  67. Pat Says:

Totally agree with you Beverly, myself also being a 40 year plus fan, I have to say his performances are never in question, but he is more than just a voice, he is an entire package and the grey hair will certainly spoil the image. I do also think that fans will be put of seeing him because the Tom they love is no longer there I hate to say this as I have seen Tom countless times, and really hope that as Keith says the Experiment is over soon.

  68. Moderator Says:

Beverly: I tried to email you about your comment — the second time in a couple of days I’ve done so — and I’m told by the email system this account ” IS NOT ACCEPTING MAIL FROM THIS SENDER.” If that is so, please make the adjustment so you can accept email from this site. It must be a two-way street or the street must close. And, forgive me if I’m mistaken, but the “younger crowd” you mentioned in a previous post tends to download music, not buy CDs which is why there is a movement away from hardware and toward the internet.

Pat: I love Keith. We’re good friends. He ran a terrific website (JTV.com) and is a terrific pot-stirrer. In fact we were just on the phone talking about Tom. As a long-time fan, too, I can tell you with absolute certainty that the Tom you love is still there. Anyone who stops going to see him because he let his hair be natural is the one who loses, not he. He’s gathering more fans daily because of his talent. Give him a chance. He’s still buff and hot and can sing better than anyone else. As Rick Nelson said in Garden Party: “I didn’t look the same…ya can’t please everyone, so you got to please yourself.” He’s really entitled and, yes, Tom Jones like everyone else has got to please himself, doesn’t he?

  69. Cathy Says:

Ok, I can’t believe all this discussion about hair! That aside, the thing I noticed when I first saw the picture was that his hair was
shorter. :-) It took a few seconds to notice the colour. I love Tom and his voice and personally don’t care what he does with his hair.
Tom is the Voice and the Man!

  70. Pat Says:

Point taken, of course he’s still the same Tom and can sing better than anyone else and that will never change, but sorry still don’t like the hair.

  71. cheryl Says:

Tom is one of the most sexiest men alive. I love the new look. Hair dye does not make him who he is. He is so so so HOT… I can not wait to see him next weekend…

  72. Laura Says:

After it is said and done, after all the conversations and opinions…..about his hair color or lack there of…..remains the best set of pipes that God granted a human being as we know him.

  73. TJFriend Says:

When we are young, we look one way and when we age, of course, our appearances alter depending on the degree of natural changes. The beauty of a person, as we’re all reminded, is in the eyes of the beholder. This holds true for Tom Jones who has aged very gracefully, no matter what his methods of perservation are, it’s worked for him. Whether with dark hair or with grey hair, he’s still our beloved Tom Jones. In fact, his greyness has brought out an inner glow, the sweetness, I’ve also remembered seeing in him. He’s a beautiful person, both inside and out, and a majestic voice to match it. Plus, he’s a man with much wisdom and thereby, deserves more respect. The beauty of his soul shines thru and that to me is what makes him, not sexy, but an extrodinary gentleman.

  74. Marian Says:

I have to add I knew these pictures would certainly bring on a long list of comments. Hopefully, Tom would never read them, but no one can say it is not a shock. Personally, it makes “me” feel older. And my earlier question of why he would do this so suddenly was not meant to be sarcastic, but most people, those who are not even in the public eye, will let their hair go gray more slowly. And, REALLY, I come from a family who still has natural color in their hair at a late age, so it was possible that Tom still had some color. The problem was the color was too dark. Just add a little more color with the grey, and he will satisfy the entire bunch of us.

  75. Renn Says:

Still say the dark hair was out-dated and aging, had the “cheesy” Vegas lounge singer effect of trying desperately to look young. Sounds like some people would like Tom to keep his hair and goatee dark forever (assuming he lives that long). And won’t he look ridiculous!! I can only imagine the jokes – they are bad enough already.

I applaud Tom’s brave step to drop the dye bottle! Like the new shorter, tighter haircut too. His bigger “fro was a bit dated. He looks fresher, updated now. Only way this can get better is if it all goes SILVER – like Kenny Rogers or James Brolin.

Maybe some wardrobe changes are coming too?!

  76. Marisa Says:

He’s been wearing that shirt in the picture, the black one with the vertical strips of sequins, forever. He could’ve changed that if he wanted to update.

I just spent a few hours at “Jon Louis of Paris” getting the coarse, thick, color-resistant greys in my curly hair covered. Does it look like a desperate dye job? Probably, but I can’t try to date and interviewing for jobs at 44 years old with grey hair when my competition is blonde and 20-something. I can tell you it takes constant effort to stay on top of grey when your hair is thick and curly like Tom’s. He looked great in the 90′s with the salt and pepper, but the grey goatee is just to “santa claus” for me. Hopefully his stylist just needed to strip out the color out and then plans to put some back in after intensive conditioning treatments for a few months. That’s really the only way to get the hair healthy after years of over-processing. Hopefully it’s not a physical condition where the Doctors recommend you don’t use hair dye. (Tom Jones PREGNANT! How’s that for a Tabloid cover!)

Why am I the only fan who wants to know if the curtains match the rug? I am the only dirty old lady out there? Sorry, but when I think of Tom Jones, I sometimes think about what’s in his pants in addition to his voice…guess I’m the only kinky pervert out here.

  77. Pat Says:

Really hope you’re right Marisa and he does put some colour back in his hair. Santa Claus is exactly what I think when I see that grey goatee, why on earth would he want to look like that. I know Tom has a new single due on 9th Feb, I have no idea if he will be coming to the UK to promote it, but if he does it will be interesting to see if his record company would allow him to go on TV looking like that, somehow I doubt it.

  78. Oqi Says:

    TBH Get used to it!

Its gray now and it stays, hopefully!!1

    “I am what I am
I am my own special creation”

Its not a really update to the show, like changing shirt is, he just wants natural hair, everyone should respect his decision, its his hair and life anyway..

    GO Tommy!!!

  79. Pat Says:

Sorry I am not going to get used to it, I think this new look is a very bad move and I can see many others here agree with me, I did like the hair colour he had in the early 90′s and I think this would suit him now. That is my opinion and I will not change my mind, but I promise this will be my very last word on the subject

  80. Oqi Says:

Pat are u kidding? I hope so.

    sigh

Those younger artists drink and use drugs, do all the time somth stupid its more publicity tho (bad way ofc), check Amy Winehouse, i think in this situation record company can say somth, BUT HAIR? OOOOHHH PLEEEASE!

    common sense allowed!

  81. gieret Says:

No, Marisa, you aren’t the only kinky pervert, as you call it, out there! Just seems no one ever talks about Tom in that way any more. Just because he’s 68 doesn’t mean the fire has gone out! I, for one, would not turn him down. I don’t care how old he is~~he’s Tom Jones. He still is the sexiest man alive to me! I do wish everyone would get over the hair deal, be glad he still has some!

  82. Moderator Says:

Tom Jones? Old? Guess it all depends (no pun) how you look at it. This week Tony Martin (google him if you don’t know him) is playing the prestigious Feinstein’s at Loew’s Regency in Manhattan and getting good reviews (despite an oddly fitting brown rug). He was born December 25, 1912. That makes him 96.

  83. Julia Says:

Tom looks terrific. He has a right to look anyway he wants to look. Lets face it girls, he belongs to Linda and just sings to us. It is the voice not the hair. I love his music. The new song “The Road” says it all.
    You go Tom.
    Julia

  84. Kel W. Says:

I relooked at the pictures, yes he is a sexy silver fox. But, did anyone besides me think he looks like Gil Grissom from CSI now?

  85. Chyna Says:

Tom Jones with a gray goatee looks like Santa? Well, that’s okay with me. Santa has always been VERY VERY good to me (even when I’m naughty). When I think about Tom as Santa I’ll remember the lyric “Santa Baby, hurry down my chimney tonight!” I’ve have some special treats waiting for him. His gray hair isn’t going to bother me one little bit.

Dear Friends of TJI, I don’t think that Ms. Ellen ever thought that this particular section of the TJI website would bring forth so many voices concerning Tom Jones’ distinguish looks. Should he ever decide to go bald that certainly would solve the “debate” about his silver hair. Yes, I will be truthful, I do miss his dark and thick curly hair, BUT I do appreciate seeing him as he appears now. Facing reality is not always easy, and reality is that time has been good to Tom Jones. He’s been blessed with a phenomenal voice that progressively continues to get richer. He’s learned to become comfortable with his appearance, and for his beloved and devoted wife, Mrs. Linda Woodward, for her, Tom Jones is exactly the same way when she first feel in love with him when they were so young. That is the beauty of life. Love sees no changes in anyway. It’s the same for us with our loved ones, we see them exactly the way we’ve always seen all of our lives. This holds the same for Tom Jone. He’s never changed, only has become better and more of a distinguished gentleman. Cheers to Sir Tom Jones, Health and Happiness, forever.

Wow, Ellen, I didn’t know Tony Martin was still alive, and to see him still performing is amazing. He must have some fantastic memories of show biz. A beautiful wife, Cyd Charisse….as he said, great memories!! And I didn’t think the hair looked bad at all.

    Tom Jones looks wonderful!!!

We’ve been waiting and wondering when this decision would be made. Now he’s done it and WOW!!!! He looks Fabulous.

He just keeps getting sexier and sexier as he gets older.

    Loved the latest CD.

We Love You Sir Tom Jones.

It’s a little bit of a shock, but I’ll wait until I see him in person to decide what I really think!

  91. Cristiano Says:

New stuff, new look, new Tom!!!!! Always great!!!! I’m going to see him on March. I hope he still be grey!

  92. Harriet Kassos-Karlas Says:

I’ve read all of the above comments and waited to join in. After seeing his “au natural” picture over and over again, I’ve come to the conclusion that I didn’t care for it. Don’t get me wrong, I know there’s more to him than grey hair and goatee, but unfortunately, a lot of people don’t. Don’t forget “i’m alive” was to wake up people that yes he is alive and well and still performing on stage. I’ve been enjoying Tom’s music and concerts for almost thirty years. I’ve been to quite a few places to see him and the bottom line is he sells “sex” on stage. Yes it’s true that we love him unconditionally, gray hair or not. We love, adore and idolize this superstar. Yes, it is the “voice” that gives us goose bumps, but I for one admit, that the shakes and grinds weren’t bad either. It’s ridiculous for him to do them now, yes, but unfortunately, the people that go see his concerts, will initially say “boy he got old” or “he must have gotten gray overnight”. “I just saw him on Leno, Kimmel, etc. and he didn’t look like that”. A gradual change would have been a lot better. I agree that the “shoe polish” color wasn’t cutting it anymore, but this? No way. The same way women get highlights, he could have gotten dark highlights to blend in with the gray. And please do not compare Kenny Rogers to Tom. With his latest face lift, he looks like a porcelain doll I recently gave my niece. I’m surprise if he can still move his lips to sing. And I’m glad Tom didn’t go that route, but this was way too abrupt. He’s still trying to attract the younger audience, but this is not the way. He had been doing so good promoting the new album – I just hope it doesn’t back fire. I for one, will always adore him and remember fondly the memories he has given me over the years.

  93. Oqi Says:

I dont think, that the younger audiance cares about his hair or goatee, tbh its the music and ofc his unique voice, example Stoned In Love or RELOAD, the young ppl make comments on youtube and discuss about his voice and his vocal abilities, and how he can sing better than anyone else..

Me? Well ive been fan since i was 6 or 7 years old, i heard Delilah, just the voice, and i thought what the hell, so powerful voice, control and vibrato… And im 19 now… His charisma and how cool he is, moves, style and etc… Its the thing what attracts most younger ones when they look him. When they hear him, its “THE VOICE”

My friends like, Feels Like Music, few bought the album, they dont buy cos he has Grey hair? LoL

I bought Amy Winehouse cd, soulful very lovely voice and good songs, cant say same about the look!

  94. Renn Says:

Harriet: I respectfully disagree. Tom’s new look adds a certain credibility appropriate to the music on “24 Hours.” His silver-grey hair and goatee exudes confidence, character and wisdom. He looks distinguished and decidedly MORE sexy. It’s still all about the voice and the music.

Olli: I think you are correct. I have young relatives (teens) who know Tom’s music. They don’t care what musicians look like. They buy music for the SOUND. Your example of Amy Winehouse is spot on. Good music, but if we’re buying on looks — well, Amy wouldn’t be selling much music.

Long live THE VOICE and The SILVER FOX!!

  95. Chris Derrick Says:

I think Tom looks really good. He looks better natural, not saying he has looked bad over the years because he has always looked brilliant. Well done Tom.
