You Can Ask Sir Tom Jones Himself A Question: Just Follow The Link Below
Saturday, November 29th, 2008
Gemma Watters, producer of National Public Radio’s Weekend Edition will be interviewing Sir Tom on Thursday for broadcast Saturday, December 6 between 10 am and noon. Fans are invited to submit questions and, if your question is chosen, you might be called to ask Tom himself a question. (In person via phone. Sort of.) Follow the link below.
She writes:
“Don’t tell my mum, but who would have thought that I would get excited about an interview with the Welsh King of Pop, Sir Tom Jones?
“Take That, Guns ‘n’ Roses, Bon Jovi, Kylie Minogue and The Cure! That was some of the music I was allowed to like as a teenager – I had a reputation to uphold at school. The wrong musical taste could lead to a lonely life.
“I was a teenager who liked to shut myself away from the world and make tapes of my favorite songs, while thinking about my secret crushes: declaring my love for them through lyrics: ‘Don’t you cry tonight, I still love you baby, Don’t you cry tonight.’ Thank you, Axl Rose! Could you imagine if I played Love Me Tonight by Tom Jones for a guy I wanted to date? I probably would have been invited to his house — to meet his father.
“But now, I’m proud to have the gyrating, leather-pants-wearing Tom Jones on my playlist. His credibility went up in my book when he sang with British-pop-singer Robbie Williams, who coincidentally, used to be in Take That!
“Now it’s your turn to love Tom Jones, too. Please post your questions … and we’ll call a few of you on Wednesday, so you can ask him your “burning” questions.”

Well as I live in England I know I won’t get a call but if I could ask Tom a question it would be …If you were on a desert island what three things would choose to take with you .

Sorry, but I cannot post my “burning” question here

Thanks Ellen! What an exciting opportunity. I just posted my question, now, fingers crossed. I am SO digging his new album, I just can’t get enough.

Fay: Terrific question….hope it gets chosen. If they will call outside the US (and Toronto is not way outside the US) I’m sure it will.

My questions would be “Sir Tom, what would it take…? (Bebe, you fill in the blank) lol
)

Thanks Ellen. I thought your question was good as well, I would love to know his answer to that! Artists often record tracks that they don’t really favour, at the expense of those they would like to, for many reasons.

I am with the person who asks if Tom would like to record with Jimmy Page again. My big dream would be a blues album with all my favourite guitar players and Jimmy is number one in my book!
Of course living in Switzerland I can’t post my question. But I would have a question. Everyone is so focused on how this is the first time Tom writes his own material but what about the three songs on the album with Jools Holland? How was that any different?
And most of all, how did “Odd Man Out” come to be? I have been fascinated by that song ever since I heard it first and when I realised that Tom had co written it I became even more curious.

Dragonlady: It’s been said on this site several times — this is not the first time Tom is getting writing credit. There are several songs — including that other apology, The Letter — that he’s been credited with cowriting on Mr. Jones, too. Just believe this is a publicity thing or the collective memory is faulty.

Oh, I never meant to say that you said this. Sorry about that! We all know there have been other songs co written by Tom. It’s just that all journalists seem to ask this as if it was the first time. I guess they are all confusing the fact that this is a more personal album, as opposed to writing songs “in general” but it gives people a wrong idea I think. Well it’s not that important as long as the album sells well.
I only meant to say, that I wish I knew how that particular song came to be. It’s one of my personal top ten favourite.

My question would have been :
Do you believe in life after death and if yes, is there something you would like to be changed in your personality?
