Sir Tom In the News, What's New, Pussycat?
Here’s our news page. This is the place for articles and, we pledge, we’ll try not to post the stupid stuff we all run across once in awhile.
Tom Jones Photos: New & Vintage From “The Guardian” & A Gallery From Wales Online
Sunday, October 26th, 2008

As they often do, walesonline.com offers a slightly sensationalized rehash of the article posted below that cheapens the original. It’s really bad — and, apparently there’s no journalistic law or unwritten rule in Wales that they give credit to the source — but there is a fun photo gallery to go with it.
Here’s the cover and the two new photos that appeared with the article posted just below from The Guardian Weekend Magazine. That doom-and-gloom photo at right is so in keeping with the mood of the song 24 Hours that it’s really kind of amusing, isn’t it? It may be considered artsy and smoldering but, it may be that the poor guy clearly just finished sweeping and he’s annoyed and exhausted. But it’s a new look at Tom, so we love it.
Thanks so much to Pat for sending them.

I am glad that our Sir Tom is getting so much great press..but I must object to the photographer and his cover photo of Sir Tom for this magazine. I think it looks like a mug shot. JMHO .. Tom looks hot anyway..

Abbie: We like it. That’s what makes the world go ’round, right?

This has to be the best interview Tom has given. They just let Tom talk and being a Celt he loves to talk. It would have been fun if they had taken a photo of him actually sweeping the floor .Did you notice Tom is wearing a different cross?

Pat: It’s probably his go-to-work cross.

15 years ago when Tom recorded The Lead and How to Swing It he was too old , passé,, and out of style to be a serious candidate in the US market. Things were very different 15 years ago, they still sold CD’s in record stores and record companies were making lots of money on new young artists. Tom was in a very bad position.
Today it’s just the opposite. Tom Jones is in an excellent position to get a hit record in the USA He is now old enough to be considered very cool, and a living legend. The record companies are now broke and can no longer afford to make an unknown person famous. If a kid just got famous on American Idol, and puts out a CD, other kid’s will copy it and circulate it around without paying for it. Tom’s fans will buy and pay for his CD, not copy it. Tom is already famous so that takes care of the biggest headache for any record company. Tom is still passionate about his profession, at his age this is considered an inspiration and a phenomenon. He will therefore receive very much free publicity because of it. I predict much success with 24 Hours.
