It arrived yesterday and I stayed up very late watching it. As a result I had very happy dreams! WOW! Even with those huge 1970 sideburns, he looked great and also sounded great!

Well, I was pretty much jazzed when I received Volume 2 yesterday. Its always exciting to get to see these wonderful shows again as they bring back tremendous memories of that time in my life.
It was great to see Sammy, Johnny, Bobby, Jerry Lee and Liza….the only problem that I had with this set was the same as I did with volume 1 – not seeing all the guests that had appeared, such as Glen Campbell, Barbara Eden, Jeannie C. Reilly and Joey Heatherton. Hope they don’t cut out the show with Raquel Welch…just way too much editing. Again they didn’t show the complete concert series of songs at the end. Songs were simply not shown. I don’t know if it has something to do with licensing and permisisons, but I find that hard to believe with the magnitude of what this show had brought to Television each week and the stars that appeared on the show.
It appears that this volume was a “rush-rush” deal so they can it on the market to sell. I don’t believe tender loving care when into the production of the DVDs as a true Tom Jones fan would have done. I just didn’t feel it.
On a positive note, Tom was great as usual and the design and photography of the DVD case and box was super great. It was classy. Too bad that same love and didn’t go into the compilation of this DVD set.
Maybe next time….Forget the theme of the volumes, lets have the complete shows — that’s what the true Tom Jones fans want.

Yes, anna I received an email yesterday as well from Amazon that my dvds were to be delayed till the end of this month!
I think the wait will be worth it.

You guys are so lucky. It takes months to get to the UK.

I love the DVD! But like everyone else said, a lot was left out. Many songs I think are repetitious. What about songs like Delilah, Daughter of Darkness, Ebb Tide (he did this beautifully)? I hope other sets to come add many other different songs Tom made popular.

Was Treat Her Right on the concert segment of the Johnny Cash episode?

My childhood came flooding back to me today as I watched the new DVD set. Oh my gosh, I lived through and survived the era of plastic, polyester and spandex. But, most importantly, I lived when there was a show called “This is Tom Jones” and it was brilliant. I for one thought that these shows would never be released again for one reason or another so I am just so thrilled to have them, as incomplete as they well may be. I just sat there watching history unfold before me….we are so fortunate that these images still exist. I have no complaints – just lots of warm and fuzzy feelings and can’t wait to share a bit of my childhood memories with my teenage daughter. She only knows Tony Bennett from his recent appearances on tv as an 80-year-old, but a still swinging 80-year-old. She’s heard of Liza and Sammy Davis Jr., but has not seen them perform in their prime! She will now. Just enjoy these DVD’s and hope there will be many more to come!

I ordered my DVD’s on 1/20 from TimeLife with the link through this site. Had nothing but problems and still do not have my DVD’s. I got a letter on 2/11 saying it was out of stock for another 30 days, then I got an email today, 2/20 saying it had shipped, only they shipped Rock n’Roll Legends, the first set. I gave up and ordered from Amazon yesterday, 2/19 and its already shipped. Hopefully will get it in a few days. Anybody else had this experience with TimeLife? I’ll keep ordering from Amazon, never have a problem.

Pam, Everyone: TimeLife chaged computer systems and had a major foul-up with all their orders, not just these DVDs. They’ve all been mailed and you will get them. If you wish to send them back then, of course, do. They have said they will make it up to all those affected…don’t know how they will, but the person at TimeLife who runs this is working on it.

I received this second set yesterday and was a bit disappointed about the fact that a lot has been left out. But what is there is great to watch. Never saw the Tony Bennett episode and was surprised to hear him sing If I Ruled The World with such a powerful voice at the end of this beautiful song. Highlights for me are the Tom and Jerry duet and Tom’s version of Without Love. Some minor points: picture and sound are OK, but not remastered. The footage could be on two discs. No extras. Overall a great set to complete your collection, but not interesting enough for the die-hard Jones fans.

Hey Pam – YES I have the same problem with TIMELIFE – I received a letter yesterday that they are still out of stock and they expect to ship within 30 days. Federal regulations prohibit them from holding this order any longer – therefore I have to contact them within 14 days or they have to cancel my order and issue a refund. I don’t want a refund – I want my DVD set, hahaha – well I guess I stick to my order but next time definitely AMAZON.com again – only good experiences – SORRY TIMELIFE

Hi, All: Once again, we want to apologize for what happened with TimeLife….and to tell you again that they are going to do something to make it up to all who ordered. (We, too, are sorry and apologize.)
Ellen met with the TimeLife internet person last night and she (who is really upset by this) explained the root of the problem lies in the people who took over the software for internet sales and record-keeping functions late in 2007. Of course, it is small comfort when you are waiting, but it will be remedied. A

Well, got tired of waiting,I ordered two months ago, so I ordered from Amazon, received them within three days. When I receive my original order from TimeLife, I will unfortunately have to send it back. I liked the second set, but I wish that the concert spots were left in their entirety. They were always the best part of the show. I’m sure there are reasons for choosing certain material that we don’t understand, but it seems the DVD’s would best showcase the talents of Tom and his guests, if they released DVD’s in their entirety instead of seemingly getting bits and pieces of certain episodes. I still love them though!

No, Robbie, Treat Her Right was on the Johnny Cash episode. At least not on my copy, so I assume it was not added.
