Tom At The EMI Grammy Party February 10

Tom — looking like “200 pounds of natural man” — attended the EMI Grammy© party in LA last night. (EMI is a British music company, one of the so-called “big four” in the industry.) Doesn’t he look great like this?

I have always wondered why Tom is hardly ever on the Grammy show as a presenter or a performer. He isn’t even mentioned or shown on the clips they show from past Grammy shows.

I agree with Rick. Why is Tom never on the Grammy show and hasn’t he received a lifetime acheivement award yet?

Hopefully after his new CD is released in the US we’ll see Tom on the Grammy stage next year. Great photo though…looks like he is ready to party.

Ricka & Felicia: To be on the Grammy© show an artist has to have a presence in the US recording industry or there has to be another, specific, reason for their presence on the show. For example, there was ol’ Andy Williams last night. He was there simply because he hosted the first eight award ceremonies. Sinatra, though dead, also had a presence as the person who introduced the awards concept to the public. Tom won one award 40+ years ago and, while we think he deserves to be honored, they don’t seem to agree. The answer surely will lie in new product for 2008.
We fervently hope — and choose to believe — that, come next year, Tom will be there laden with honors.

Tom Jones and Guy Hands and Edna Abad were together at the EMI Grammy Afterparty, in which Tom was discussing his upcoming release in 2008.
