Vintage Tom On TV in 1964: New Screen Shots

In 1964 Tom and the Squires appeared on the British TV show The Beat Room, singing Chills and Fever. Matthew was kind enough to send a set of screen shots from that show and they are posted here. Or, you can click on “Screen Shots” at the right.

Since photos are posted in reverse order with the most recent first, you’ll have to scroll through the entire set of Screen Shots to find these at the end. But, does having to look at photos of Tom really bother anyone?

Note the drummer in these photos was Chris Slade, a Pontypridd native who went on to work with AC/DC from 1989 to 1994. You can find out more about him on his wikipedia page.

Ohhhhhhhhh, such great shots of Tom in the early days. The Man never grows old, and hope he will stay forever young. There are only a few singers who are also performers, and Tom takes the prize.

Just have to add a little aside, the potential American Idol, Taylor Hicks, gives me that same feelgood feeling that Tom does. If some people think he can’t dance, he doesn’t care, he’s having fun and sharing that fun with his audience.

Young Tom, older Tom…it’s all good.

I like Taylor Hicks too. He has a neat voice and I love his energy. Seems like an all around good guy. I think he would draw more audiences than Katharine, but that is just MHO.
